When Demetrious was eleven, he found himself debating a new neighbor about Trolls. Receiving ‘The Lord Of The Rings’ as a Christmas gift, he spent three days in bed reading a book a day. He was shocked after the One Ring was destroyed and no one cared about the other Rings. The three books he loved had all been about the One Ring. According to the Ring Rhyme, there were nineteen other Rings. From the day forward, he began imagining what the search for the rest of the Rings would be like and sometimes took notes.
In 2015 while surfing Tolkien fan sites, he read marginalia JRRT had written about Elves tortured by the Enemy and released to do mischief. “This idea should be taken up,” Tolkien wrote. Demetrious took it as a command and began writing.
But the writing stalled. In 2017 on vacation in Prague and surrounded by grand medieval castles, statues and bridges, he felt as if Middle-earth had come calling and the writing zoomed forward.
Since Tolkien agreed his books were too short, “The Fellowship Of The King” is the first of a seven-book series. In ‘The War Of The Rings’ the canon of the Legendarium has been scrupulously followed and purists will be happy to find an epic new adventure that seamlessly weaves established mythology with dazzling new races and lands, indistinguishable in origin and spirit from the originals.
